Batman: Nightmare Over Gotham (Sketch)
<- Previous Next ->As an Idea, I'd been asked to do a Batman Drawing using the Cape.. so i figured LOTS of cape with the City, GOTHAM, inside, in a protective embrace... My one problem with the sketch was where to put the Bat Signal so it wouldn't interfere with the Batman Leaning Over The City composition... The weight of the city and the weight of the Batman balanced, but the addition of the Batsignal killed the tension between the two... I figured I'd wait until the actual drawing to work that out... however, when I took out the sheet of Art paper I was going to draw on, the original composition looked WAY tame. I felt the sweep and swirl happen on the larger paper as reflected in the finished drawing... and the Batsignal worked itself out easily. As the city bent, the piece became less protective and more overwhelming, hence the title.
